Perfect picture and quote combo and so, so true. Love is such an amazing and powerful thing, even if it does hurt sometimes.

What a cool picture.

(I feel like such a rebel right now, sneaking through the portal at work to comment!)

And that quote? One of my absolute favorites.

Love you mama, love you a lot.

Sometimes, just knowing that whatever you do you're doing from a place of love has to be enough. Sometimes it's just harder than other times.

I wish you peace.

Wow. Really, wow. What an incredible, inspirational post. Sometimes it feels so hard to know how to parent a child who's walking a different path, one we can't always see with pitfalls and challenges we don't always understand, to know when to push and when to accept, what is a genuine need and what is a crutch. What an incredible gift for your son to have the kind of mother who can be the parent he needs, even if that need changes from day to day, moment to moment.

My own daughter is still only six and the shape of her challenges and the direction her path will take still uncertain. While it is clear that anxiety is a major component we still don't know how it will develop and how some other issues will play out over the long term. I only hope I can be half as inciteful as you are here as we head off into the unknown.

It sounds like he is doing such a good job, making efforts to succeed and you are such an awesome mom for having the patience and love to allow him to find his own way to cope without shoving him in any particular direction regardless of if it feels right for him or not.

I hope to have half the patience and strength you do in my own parenting.

I just had my parent/teacher conference for my son, who has been diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder. Sigh. It's so hard. My little guy is only 6, I pray I have the strength and wisdom to "let go" when he can't deal with something like the loudness of a movie or the vivid pictures of a tv show. Sincerely, I hope I can have a fraction of your strength and wisdom. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
