So, who’s it gonna be, huh?

2008 October 21

I finally put myself out of my misery. I just couldn’t wait any longer and made the decision to just do it. Now, I have two weeks to fret about whether I made the right choice and I hope my neighborhood, my state, my COUNTRY, can live, survive, thrive.

Today I voted in the 2008 Presidential Election. I took full advantage of Florida’s early voting policy, took my little voter’s registration card and photo ID to the one of two early voting precincts, filled in a few ovals and got my ‘My Vote Counted’ sticker. Now, I just hope the other 11 million-plus registered voters in my home state will follow suit and get out to Rock the Vote.

I was encouraged to see a couple dozen or so fellow early birds, with more filing in behind me in line. It still took me less than half an hour for the whole process. I really hope we have a huge turn out for this election.

When JM was home from college this past weekend, we helped her fill out her absentee ballot. She was fretting about getting all the mundane address and personal info fill in correctly. She is so psyched about this election. It is very heartening to see so many young adults taking to the polls.

Who did I vote for? That’ll have to wait until the next foreign or domestic crisis, or economic or health care disaster, or social faux pas and I can either say ‘don’t blame me I voted for the other guy’ or ‘crap, why did I go with him!’

If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Get out the vote!

Well, according to Joe Biden, if Obama’s elected we can expect a huge crisis within the first 6 months of his term, so your chance to fess up or lay blame could come soon. ;-)

Good for you on getting out there. I’ll have to slug through all the other voters on Nov. 4th.

[Tara R.] DFTF… concerns me that his own veep pick would be so negative, or is he just being pragmatic? I’m glad to be done with voting, I wasn’t looking forward to fighting crowds on election day proper.

    You wrote me in, right?????

[Tara R.] Lizzy… I did promise you my vote!

I’ll be sending in my absentee ballot this week. Voting for myself again for president. Long story about that. I guess it’s too late to convince you to dump Lizzy and vote for me.

[Tara R.] Patois… yeah, sorry about that. I seem to remember a promise of cookies, or possibly chocolate, was involved in my backing of the Lizzy Party Candidate.

I personally will soon vote and send it in via absentee voting in the next couple of days. Good for you for getting in there and getting it taken care of!

[Tara R.] Tracy… my daughter is voting absentee this time because she is away at college. With so many different options, there really should be no excuse for not voting. Good for you!

They say if you don’t vote, you can’t complain. Well I’m certainly going to complain, therefore, I vote! lol

[Tara R.] Cyndy… I’ll probably be complaining quite a bit too.

I think this is the most important election that I will ever vote in. I can not wait to stand up and be counted. But, that is all I am going to say about that.

[Tara R.] Converse… good for you! I think this is going to be a worldwide phenomenon for so many reasons. My daughter and I talked a lot about the election when she was home this weekend. I’m excited that she’ll be participating in this vote too.

I am voting. Personally I cannot wait to see who wins it this term. Crossing fingers.. :)

[Tara R.] Kim… me too! I should take that day off from work, just so I can watch the election returns while all comfy in my jammers and fuzzy socks.

    good for you :)

and don’t forget to bring your teeth slippers home from work for that day :)

[Tara R.] Beany… the bunny slippers will be a must. :D

We don’t have the option for early voting where I live. I wish we did. My mind is made up and I am ready, I wish I didn’t have to wait.

[Tara R.] Saintseester… we’ve had early voting here in Florida for a few years. Polls open at limited venues about two week prior to the official voting day. For the most part, by then I know who and what I want to vote for and like the option of getting it done and out of the way. The only drawback is then having to wait so long for the results.

I LOVE going to the polls and doing in on “The Day.” Maybe because we live in a small area so it is like old home week as well-a chance to catch up and visit with people while also doing our civic duty. Ya’ll know who I am for, but I just hope this election has the biggest turnout in history-because that means people are finally paying attention. Yay for Tara! :)

[Tara R.] Kori… the last time I voted in a regular election, I was standing in line for about two hours, not so much fun. I really like this early balloting. So far, the early numbers are twice what they were in other years.

    hi TARa,
i just posted a “so good” list post for you today. come see if you want to, but only if you want to “awh.”

    peace sista,
    beany :)

    [Tara R.] Beany… I can’t wait. :D

Good for you for voting. This will be my first year voting in Wisconsin and I believe they do early voting here too…so I might be checking into that. I can’t wait until all of this election AND advertising stuff is over!!

[Tara R.] Anna… I tell you, early voting is great. If you don’t think you will change your mind in the next two weeks, take advantage of this option. It sure beats waiting in line for hours on the actual day.

We don’t have early voting here like y’all do, but we do have walk-in absentee ballot voting. I’m thinking about going after work someday soon to vote absentee. I’m already hearing about the mega-lines that will be forming at the polls on Election Day Morning! I’m psyched for this election, too. Rock the Vote, baby!

[Tara R.] Melissa B… how cool would it be to have an 80-90 percent turnout? We have to stop being so apathetic, and get involved. Voting is the least anyone can do.

I love that you’ve raised your kids to know what an honor and privilege it is to be able to vote, Tara, and that your daughter realizes that is also our civic duty and takes her decision seriously. It really is awesome to see young people getting involved and learning about the candidates and the issues.

I’m not voting early- there’s only one place to do it in my county, and I’ve heard the lines are really long. I’ll just go up the street on Nov. 4th where it’s not a big deal to come back if necessary(with kids in tow!).

[Tara R.] Nissa… my regular polling place is within walking distance of my house too, but the early precinct was on the way home from work. I love that so many people are already mailing in absentee ballots and voting early. I hope it’s an indication of a huge voter turnout over all. My daughter is very excited and tells me other students on campus are just as stoked about this election.

What? You’re not gonna tell who you voted for? Not fair. *pouty face*
