Mullet anyone?

A hair style popular from the 1970s through the 1990s ~ ‘Business in the front, party in the back!’ At the height of it’s infamy, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus was the unofficial poster boy for this lopsided coif.

In a huge upset last week in the battle of the Bulldogs, California underdog Fresno State upset Georgia 6-1 to win the 2008 NCAA Division I Baseball National Championship – the college World Series. Not sure where Fresno pitcher Kris Tomlinson was going with this variation of the mullet, but it seems to have done the job. (Would this be called a ’skullet?’ ~ thanks for the suggestion Butch!)

    Mullet. Ew.

[Tara R.] Ashley… the fish or the hair style? Wait, it doesn’t matter, neither are good.

Well, I think it is pretty dang sexy; I want my boys to have mullets but for some reason they tell me I am out of my mind. Can’t figure that one out.

[Tara R.] Kori… my boy has hair longer than mine and I would almost… almost… be okay with a mullet just to keep it out of his eyes.

I think I’d call the pitchers’ variation a “skidmark”; but “skullet” is pretty dang hilarious. I can’t pull the mullet off anymore. The hair that has fallen off of my head has transplanted itself on my back. Maybe Donald Trump can teach me how to do a combover from between the shoulder blades.

[Tara R] NukeDad… eewww! My brother has the whole monk balding pattern, but chose to let the rest of his hair grow long, then put it into a rat tail… another hairstyle that thankfully has lost it’s charm.

LMAO…The frist time I saw the skullet was at ESPN and I was beside myself from laughter.

    Mullets are awesome!

[Tara R.] Chris… a friend sent me the Tomlinson pix… I lost it. Laughed so hard, I thought I pulled a muscle.

I totally almost vomited at that skullet. And yesss – I like this layout!!

[Tara R.] Maria… when I first saw the photo, I wasn’t sure what it was. It took me a while to realize his hair was cut that way. (Glad you like the new look.)

This is a pretty cool layout!!!

I accidentally got a mullet before my freshman year in high school. It was a sad, sad day that ended up being a horrendous year. I should have sued . . .

[Tara R.] LaskiGal… okay, I’ll admit that I had a mullet once too. I was young, I didn’t know what I was doing. I think I found all the pictures of me and destroyed them. ;)

I’ve always thought Billy Ray Cyrus was kinda creepy. The mullet makes it worse! When my youngest was about 2, she used to chew on the hair that hung near her face on the side. I had the hairdresser cut it away from her face, so she had longer hair in the back than in the front. She bitterly refers to photos from back then as “my mullet years.”

[Tara R.] Melissa B… that is a funny story. Yeah, BRC was a little creepy back in the day… he is still.

I recognized the cox part of your email address in the comment you left on my blog and had to come see yours. We are from the same place! I am FWBHS c/o 94 and the wife is Niceville c/o 94. The worst part of the mullet festival today is they charge to get in!

[Tara R.] Hockeyman… I remember when you just paid $1 for outside parking and the festival was still fun. I haven’t gone in years. My oldest kid was Niceville c/o ‘007 (always thought that was hilarious), my son will be c/o ‘11
