And the winner is…
2008 June 7
I wasn’t keeping up with the race for the Triple Crown, and was only vaguely aware of the name Big Brown. But, apparently an upstart, the aptly named Da’Tara ~ a 38-1 long shot ~ kicked some horsey ass today and stole that big prize right out from under Big Brown’s equine nose by winning the Belmont Stakes.
At the end of the race my mom calls to tell me about the results … then while I was blog hopping around tonight I found this….
I love being a good luck charm. You’re more than welcome cuz.

I’m so glad that jockey pulled Big Brown back. If another horse had gotten hurt, I think I’d have lost it!
[Tara R.] Dys Mom… I’m ambivalent about horse racing, but there was something definitely wrong with how that horse died. There is a dog track near us, but I’ve never gone to a race. Someday I would love to adopt a retired greyhound. They are gorgeous animals.
you’re my good luck charm too, TARa. i just saw this on M’s blog, too. way cool. night night, beany
[Tara R.] Beany! You also noticed that he gave me the credit for the win, but made no mention of sharing his winnings?
I read in the paper this morning that Da’Tara paid $79 for a $2 bet. You’re a lucky gal–or your name is, at any rate. Don’tcha wish you’d bet on that horse yesterday?
[Tara R.] Melissa B… I should pay more attention to stuff like this. I could have cashed in too.
well TARa, make M cut you in then. you know where he lives, hehe.
happy sunday cutie
beany
[Tara R.] Beany… better yet, I know how to get in touch with his MOTHER. I’ll tell on him, just like I used to do.
you made me giggle. tattle tell. hehehe
[Tara R.] Beany… that’s the good thing about being family, tattling.;)
The things I find out too late. *sigh* Congrats to the cuz.
[Tara R.] April… tell me about it! I would’ve put a little money on that nag.
And, I can see by your post on his blog that you ALREADY know that chalkdust made $760 on that horse. You should ask him to share!
[Tara R.] Melissa B… really! You’d think being family and all… I thought it was hilarious.
UGH! Now tell me, if you had known this PRIOR to the race, would you have bet on Da’Tara? Nevermind. Don’t answer that . . . why torture yourself
[Tara R.] LaskiGal… it was just so funny. I’m glad at least someone was paying attention.
