Random Wednesday – misspent youth

The secret of eternal youth is arrested development. ~ Alice Roosevelt Longworth (eldest daughter of Pres. Theodore Roosevelt, 1884 – 1980)
Young people are in a condition like permanent intoxication, because youth is sweet and they are growing. ~ Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC)
Men do not quit playing because they grow old; they grow old because they quit playing. ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. (American physician, writer, and humorist, 1809 -1894)

those are some nifty skateboards! and…really terrific quotes!!
xoxo
[Tara R.] Mel… those are WK’s old decks. If you look closely you can see that the white one is cracked. I really liked the Aristotle quote, it explains a lot.
Perfect.Post!
The composition of this post and the quotes really rocks me.
[Tara R.] Sue… I’m so glad you liked this!
Love the boards (decks-never heard them called that).. and the quotes are peferct.
[Tara R.] Kim… see, come over here and you learn something new everyday.
The actual board, without the hardware, is the deck.
I like the quote from It’s a Wonderful Life: youth is wasted on the wrong people!
[Tara R.] April… ain’t dat da truth! Just when you’re old enough to do all the ‘bad’ things, you don’t have the energy.
Love the photo & the quotes! What about: “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” ~Mark Twain
[Tara R.] Melissa B… I love Twain, and that quote. I don’t think he ever truly grew up either.
Luv the boards & quotes!
[Tara R.] Manic Mom… thanks, and thanks for stopping by.
hehehe… you were a skater punk? I LOVE it.
[Tara R.] CableGirl… I only wish! These are my son’s.
i love the first quote. and the last deck looks like it musta been damn comfie.
[Tara R.] Zoeyj… that Enjoi deck was his first… and he truly loved it. I think we are going to display all these somewhere in his room. I love the art on some of the boards out there – very cool stuff.
Ahhh…to be young again.
[Tara R.] Chris… yes! If only for a little while.
So much history and passion exudes from all of those. I agree they would be an amazing art piece
Love that last quote!
[Tara R.] Sandy… some of these deck are beautiful, some are wonderful examples of modern art. The Holmes quote is great.
Yes, yes, yes. Absolutely phenomenal quotes – ones I’m going to hang onto.
[Tara R.] Huck… glad you like them so much.
Love the decks and the quotes!
That last quote…ahhh…so true. so true. We try to keep that in mind and find (or make) time to play.
[Tara R.] Soapbox… I keep saying that my kids keep me young. Now, I not so sure it’s not the other way around and that I’m trying to keep them young.
Cool! Those boards look similar to the skate boards my MIL gave to my boys. She was cleaning house and found these circa 1970-1980 unclaimed by the kids ( now in their 30’s & 40’s) I’ll have to take a photo! Love the quotes, especially the last one!
[Tara R.] Bad Momma… that is so cool about the old boards! Maybe we can start a new trend… skateboards as art!
“Men do not quit playing because they grow old; they grow old because they quit playing”
hi TARa,
have loved this one for years. always a good reminder, too.
awh, thanks for the cute comment tonight. you are awesome.
night night sweetie, beany
[Tara R.] Beany… the quote is good for old ladies too.
Love the quotations. I’m so lame that I had to look more than once to be sure those were skateboards (and I was still a bit relieved by the comments that confirmed that for me).
[Tara R.] MommyTime… no worries. They do look different without the trucks on the bottom. I just thought the underdeck art was really cool.
Love the skateboards and the quotes! Great post!
[Tara R.] Anna… glad you liked! Thanks!
