Caution! Meme ahead…

Melissa B. from Scholastic Scribe tagged me for the ‘Questions and Answer’ meme… Just to let you all know, yes I do like doing memes because I do suffer from writer’s block on occasion and I dearly love talking about Myself.

(In the meantime, please give a visit to Melissa, she has some truly wonderful stories… you’ll like her.)

 1. What was I doing 10 years ago - WK (my youngest nestling) had just started kindergarten, and I was still a SAHM doing a little freelance writing and slogging through Girl Scouts, soccer, room-mother duties, blah, blah, blah… I loved being at home with my kids, but after they both reached a certain age, I needed some grown-up time. Time to re-identify myself with adults. Three years ago I went back to work full time after a 12 year hiatus from the outside work world.

2. What are 5 things on my to-do list for today (in no particular order)?

  • Feed two very insistant Labs√
  • Call two other managers and make them think it was their idea to take over a task that I should not have been doing in the first place - calls made, prognosis good
  • Shop for a pair of summer weight shoes √
  • Attend staff meeting √
  • Set up interviews for upcoming feature stories - contacts made, waiting for confirmation

3. Snacks I enjoy:

  • Corn chips and salsa - hotter the better
  • Pistachios
  • Triscut crackers and sharp cheddar cheese
  • Turtle candies

4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

  • Go back to school to study languages and comparative religion
  • Pay off my parents’ and in-law’s homes
  • Set up trust funds for my kids and each of my nieces (WK is the only nephew on either side)
  • Make generous donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital and St. Jude’s, and several other charities (See ‘Right Thing to Do‘ up top)
  • Travel - everywhere

5. 5 of my bad habits:

  • I interrupt people all the time when they’re talking
  • I worry about everything, imagining the worst case scenerios for all possible situations - none of which actually ever happen
  • I’m not assertive enough in confrontational situations
  • I forget anyone and everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries
  • I spend too much money on books

6. 5 places I’ve lived:

  • Lima, Ohio - born in St. Rita’s Hosptial
  • Oak Ridge, Tennessee - first home after moving from Ohio
  • Knoxville, Tennessee - attended college at the University of Tennessee
  • Tullahoma, Tennessee - moved there after I got married
  • Niceville, Florida - have lived here for the past 13 years

7. 5 jobs I’ve had

  • Fast food cashier - high school
  • Waitress - college
  • Newspaper reporter - staff writer covering government and crime
  • SAHM/freelance writer
  • Content Manager for Internet company

8. 5 people I want to know more about… I’ve found that I like these memes more than most, so for all those out there who enjoy a good ‘look at me’ writer’s block freebie, please jump on this bandwagon and let us know more about you!

Krissy, my favorite Firecracker Mom asked me to write another ‘Six Word Memoir.’

As for my life:

‘ Not the worst, better than most.’

We enjoy some of the same snacks! I’d also love to study languages.

[Tara R.] Groovy Mom… I took German in college and am so sorry I didn’t keep up with it. WK is making noise that he’ll study Spanish with me over the summer. We’ll see how that works out.

I LOVED this meme. And am stealing it RIGHT now to post on my blog!
:] I hope you had a fabulous Mothers Day! :D

[Tara R.] Heather… that’s the way it works… what’s mine, is yours. I had a great MD, thanks for asking.

I’d forget everyone’s bdays, too, were it not for my recurring appts in Outlook!

[Tara R.] April… I have all sort of calendar functions on my Mac and PC at work. I’m just too lazy to program them with all my important dates. I do call, but no cards.

I only remember the kid’s birthdays. I suck, And sadly, don’t really care to change that ,either. Hm. Perhaps when I get the adoration I need on MY birthday, then others’ will matter? Food for thought. Actually, I am just an idiot.

[Tara R.] Kori… I know exactly what you mean…. and I’m an idiot too. ;)

Pistachios, those were Grandpa Vernies favorite too.

[Tara R.] Chalk… I remember going to the nut store in Lima and bringing back bags and bags of pistachios when the shells were still dyed red. We would eat so many our fingers would be pink for days. Ahh… the good old days and red dye No. 2.

We’re in the same ballpark. One of my habits (I wouldn’t necessarily call it bad, though) is also buying lots of books. Thanks for the shout-out!

[Tara R.] Melissa B… the books thing is only bad cuz I spend way too much $$. Other than that, I can never have too many books. HA! Glad to give you some props, love your blog.

morning sunshine,

i love turtles candies, pistachios, and chips/salsa, too. fun to read more about you. and you don’t interrupt me on the phone, so are you sure you interrupt people all the time??? :) did you enjoy wearing your bunny slippers to work yet? great day, beany

[Tara R.] Beany… Taking the bunnies to work today. It got really cold in my office yesterday, I needed the warm fuzzies. If you ask my peeps, the interrupting is constant. :D

i so love reading memes!! they are fun!!
hope all is well with you!!! everything is fine and hectic here. sorry i’ve been such a sporadic friend lately. i’m trying to get better at my time management. i need about 20 more hours in a day!!
xoxoxoxo

[Tara R.] Melissa… I’ve been checking on you. Hopefully life will mellow out for you and yours soon. Is there such a thing as time management? When you figure it out, please let me in on it. Good to hear from ya! :D

Chocolate & pistachios. Definitely the best…especially chocolate. I think I’m out right now–that could be bad for other family members. So, one of my 5 things to do today: purchase chocolate.

[Tara R.] Angela… one of the first items I purchased for my new office - a candy jar and two jumbo bags of peanut M&Ms. I’m not beyond bribing co-workers with chocolate. ;D

Oh, I so get the worrying thing. I am terrible with this. I am like chicken little fearing the darn sky. Sigh!!

[Tara R.] ConverseMom… I can make myself crazy with worry.

I want those check marks.

[Tara R.] Maria… they are kinda cool. If you had WordPress, they’d be there for ya. ;)

warm fuzzies to you today, sunshine. take care, beany

[TARa R.] Beany… and to you too sweetie!

mwah! hehehe

[Tara R.] Beany… you are a silly widget. :)

[Tara R.] Beany…. glad I could make you smile. ;)
